What we clear in Kingston upon Thames

Kingston Council’s bulky waste crew only collects from the front boundary of your property or next to the bin store, never from inside, back gardens, garages or sheds, so anything that has to come out of the house is down to you or to us.

Kingston town centre sits in controlled parking zones A and A1, and many flats above shops there and in Surbiton have no front garden, so we agree where the van will stop before we come.

Next door we also cover Richmond upon Thames and Merton.

Kingston upon Thames council rules, parking and recycling

Keep this in mind

The council’s large item collection or us?

Kingston Council collects up to eight bulky items per booking: £48 for one to four items or £73 for five to eight. Items must be out by 6.30am at the front boundary of your property, or next to the bin store for flats. Fridges, freezers and washing machines can be booked, but sofas, armchairs and other upholstered seating are collected separately on a different day, and DIY waste such as bricks, timber and plasterboard isn’t taken (council large item page, what they take). If you need it gone today, carried out from inside, or a mixed load with a sofa and DIY waste, we collect the same day.

Villiers Road Household Reuse and Recycling Centre and vans

The recycling centre is at 20 Chapel Mill Road, off Villiers Road, Kingston KT1 3GZ. Every visit by vehicle must be booked, you need proof of a Kingston address, and cars are allowed 20 bookings a year. Vans, pick-ups and cars with trailers are limited to 12 visits a year, and vehicles over 3.5 tonnes or over five metres long (trailer included), Luton box vans, tippers and vehicles with more than four wheels are turned away. Trade waste isn’t accepted, and soil, rubble and plasterboard are limited to six bags per visit (council recycling centre page, van and trailer rules).

Fly-tipping fines and your duty of care

Kingston Council’s fixed penalty for fly-tipping is £400, with no discount for paying early (council fixed penalty page). Whoever takes your rubbish away must be a registered waste carrier. We are registered with the Environment Agency (CBDU575975) and give you a waste transfer note for every job.

Parking and red routes

Suspending a parking bay in Kingston costs £41 per five-metre space per day with more than a week’s notice, or £61.60 with less; in Kingston town centre zones A and A1 it is £61.60 or £82.10 (council parking suspension page). The A3 Kingston bypass, the A243 south of the Hook interchange and the A240 east of the Tolworth interchange are TfL red routes, so there we load from a side street.

Skip or wait and load?

A skip on a Kingston road needs a council licence, £153.48 per skip for 28 days, and only skip companies can apply (council skip page). Our wait-and-load service needs no licence: we arrive, load and leave.

FAQs About Our Services in Kingston upon Thames

Does Kingston Council collect large items?

Yes, up to eight items per booking for £48 (one to four items) or £73 (five to eight), left at the front of your property by 6.30am. Sofas and armchairs go on a separate collection day and DIY waste isn’t taken. We take everything together, from inside your home, the same day.

Can I take a van load to Villiers Road myself?

Only with a booking and proof of a Kingston address. Vans get 12 visits a year, Luton box vans and vehicles over 3.5 tonnes or five metres are turned away, trade waste isn’t accepted and rubble is limited to six bags per visit.

Do you clear flats in Kingston town centre and Surbiton?

Yes. The council’s crew won’t collect from inside a block of flats, but we carry items down from any floor and load from the nearest place the van can legally stop.

Will you clear a shed and garden in Tolworth or Chessington?

Yes, both in one visit. Soil, bricks and rubble are heavy and can cost more, so send photos on WhatsApp and we will price it first.
