What we clear in Havering

Harold Hill alone was built as one estate of about 7,400 houses between 1948 and 1958, and over half of the borough is Green Belt, so many Havering homes have bigger gardens, sheds and garages.

• Romford: house and flat clearances, bulky items
• Hornchurch and Elm Park: furniture removal, end-of-tenancy clearances
• Upminster and Emerson Park: larger homes, lofts and garden waste
• Rainham and Harold Wood: shed and garage clearances, builders’ waste

Heavy green waste is priced by weight, so you only pay for what we take. We carry everything out ourselves, from any room, loft or garden.

Next door we also cover Barking and Dagenham and Redbridge.

Havering Council bulky waste collection or us?

Havering Council collects up to three bulky items for £71.50, plus £18.50 for each extra item (council bulky waste page). Items must be at your front boundary or communal bin area by 7am, nothing longer than 6ft is taken, DIY waste is not included and you can’t add items once you have paid. For two or three items you can carry out and wait for, the council is good value. If you need it gone today, from inside the house or the garden, or it is more than the council will take, that is what we are for.

Gerpins Lane recycling centre and vans

Havering’s tip is Gerpins Lane Reuse and Recycling Centre in Upminster (RM14 2XR), run by the East London Waste Authority. Anyone coming in a van or with a trailer, or bringing DIY waste, has to book first. Luton vans, vans with tail lifts, flatbeds and tippers are not allowed at any of the four East London sites, and commercial waste is charged (East London Waste Authority). Worth checking before you hire a van for a clearance.

Fly-tipping fines and your duty of care

You are responsible for checking who takes your rubbish away. In 2025 Havering fined three households £250 each after the rubbish they had handed to an unlicensed carrier was dumped in Brentwood Road (council news). The council’s fixed penalty for fly-tipping itself has been £400, and the law allows up to £1,000. We are registered with the Environment Agency (CBDU575975) and give you a waste transfer note for every job.

Parking and red routes

Havering has resident permit zones and controlled parking zones, and the council says visitor permits are not for trade vehicles (council parking page). The A12 Eastern Avenue, the A127 Southend Arterial Road and the A13 near Rainham are TfL red routes where we can’t stop, so on those roads we load from a side street. Tell us when you book if your road is permit-only.

Skip or wait and load?

A skip on a Havering road needs a council licence: £162 for the first 14 days, applied for by the skip company, and the skip must be coned and lit at night (council skip page). Our wait-and-load service needs no licence: we arrive, load and leave.
