Barnet Council charges £46.71 to collect one to three bulky items, £57.09 for four and up to £119.30 for ten (council bulky waste page). You book at least two working days ahead, items must be at the front boundary by 6am, close to the pavement, and the crew can’t go into the house or the back garden. If that works for you, the council is good value. If not, we collect from inside the same day.
Summers Lane recycling centre and vans
Barnet’s tip is Summers Lane Reuse and Recycling Centre in North Finchley, open 9am to 4pm every day. Cars no longer need to book, but a van needs a booking at least 24 hours ahead, with proof that you live in the borough (council page).
Fly-tipping fines and your duty of care
Barnet fines fly-tippers on a sliding scale: £500 for a first offence (£350 if paid within 14 days), £600 for a second, and court for a third (council fines page). The council also warns that using an unlicensed company to collect your waste can be a criminal offence.
